Dana derisi, genç sığırlardan elde edilen ince gözenekli ve sıkı dokulu bir deridir. Yüzeydeki damar deseni belirgin olmadığı için düzgün ve zarif bir görünüm verir; buna karşın lif yapısı sık olduğundan günlük kullanımda çizilmeye ve esnemeye karşı dirençlidir.
Kayış üretiminde genellikle 1,2–2,0 mm kalınlığında kullanılır. Boyayı çok iyi kabul ettiği için renk seçenekleri geniştir ve zamanla yüzeyinde doğal bir patina oluşur. Hem vintage hem modern saatlerle uyumludur; klasik bir saatin altında resmî, spor bir kasada ise günlük durabilir.
